Apologies for butting in on your lovely forums, but I was trying to find answers about the dwindling BFV servers and there seemed to be a vibrant community right here.

I recently reinstalled BFV and upgraded to 1.21, but I can't connect to most of the internet servers, I assume it's because they are still on 1.2, what's the story on why half the servers remain at 1.2, should I downgrade, is there an easier way instead of re-installing, or a way of connecting to either ?

The 1.21 ones are getting a bit boring, the only populated ones have Irving and Hastings.

Also, are there any WW2 mod servers out there ?

I'm an old BF gamer from the days when 1942 was in Wake Island beta, finally giving up after BF2, haven't played much since, hence an "old newbie".

TIA

Why hello there. Yes we are a rather vibrant forum community. Wink
Yes, half of the BFV servers ARE on v1.2, it's how the game was packaged (for most people) and i dont think many people can be bothered upgrading. That and 1.21 is shit.
There are a few WW2 modded servers around. Most popular being one of XXX's servers. Although for you SS members, It seems that XXX are now sharing a server with -=PRO=-, just a quick heads up.

Just curious as to why you posted this in the Clan Member Welcomes topic. haha. Are you looking to join? or you just posted anywhere?

Its not possible to downgrade through patches, you can only uninstall and reinstall to get to 1.2

Also 1.2 is alot better and fairer game play than 1.21 as hacks do not exist for 1.2...

Also some of the best SSM'ers (Server Side Modders) are around on 1.2 making better maps and adding perks to vehicles.

So in my opinion, get back to 1.2

if you want both versions, read this

http://sharpshooters.progoo.us/tutorials-f23/tkotwist-tutorial-how-to-have-all-bfv-versions-t275.htm

and 1.21 isn't shit, i only use it to play on the Aussie server on there

Well if you just reinstalled bfv and updated what you should do is ya reinstall bfv to downgrade it again.then follow the link Bigunit provided when you scroll down on this page if you want both patchs that is.You could have a firewall on,or connection selection is set 2 low for your internet or 2 high ( bottem right of main menu in BFV )

Many thanks for the advice, I've reinstalled from my original edition (1.0) and upgraded to 1.2, and hey, all my settings were saved so no additional set up, I may need to do some retuning.

I'll check that link on the dual-versions.

Once again, many thanks from an "old noob".

Is there anywhere on this site on suggested servers, I've already noticed some have massively modified the old maps and there's plenty of FF and close up only identification.

My server really needs people in it..screw sexy and hello servers ...to be honest i dont understand why any of the american players in sexy would play there with stupid 300 ping when they could go to a american server and play with anywhere from 15-110 ping lol to me thats just dumb.

I agree. But it's kind of the SSM. Is it La Drang Valley with the flying Binoculars? Anywayz, that map would go for AGES if that SSM was not introduced.

So Zero, learn SSM, and think of some original ideas. This might be the thing that brings me back to regularly playing BFV. :L
